The success of the Bob Dylan<\/strong> biopic A Complete Unknown<\/em>\u00a0has\u00a0resulted in a lot of renewed interest\u00a0in Dylan\u2019s music, but just how big of an impact has it made?<\/p>\n

Well, Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0explores the movie\u2019s effect in a new article, noting Spotify data shows a huge increase in interest since the film\u2019s December release. In fact, the year prior to the release, there were about 1 million streams of Dylan songs each day, with that number rising to 4 million a day after the release, with overall streams jumping about 100%.<\/p>\n

There were also plenty of people experiencing Dylan’s music for the first time, with the streaming service showing a 110% increase in streams from newbies.\u00a0There’s also three times more women\u00a0taking an interest in Dylan than in the past, possibly because of the film\u2019s star Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cTimoth\u00e9e has that demo, and it\u2019s maybe not a complete shocker that that would happen,\u201d Richard Story<\/strong>, president of the Commercial Music Group at Sony Music Entertainment, tells the mag. \u201cBut it was a great opportunity that it did.\u201d<\/p>\n

The movie\u2019s also helping increase sales, with both digital and physical sales doubling the week after the movie\u2019s Christmas Day opening, with 1962\u2019s Bob Dylan<\/em>, 1963\u2019s The Freewheelin\u2019 Bob Dylan<\/em> and\u00a0Dylan’s\u00a0Greatest Hits<\/em> record seeing the biggest bumps.<\/p>\n

The Bob Dylan Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, also saw a bump in visitors, including a lot of younger people, who are apparently learning about the rocker\u2019s vast catalog.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of the younger visitors here assume \u2018To Make You Feel My Love\u2019 is an Adele<\/strong> or Garth Brooks<\/strong> song,\u201d museum director Steven Jenkins<\/strong> says of the 1997 track covered by both artists. \u201cSo it\u2019s fun to see those aha moments, when they say, \u2018Oh, he\u2019s that guy, too.\u2019\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n
