A new biopic about singer Marianne Faithfull<\/strong> is in the works and actors have now been cast to play the \u201cTears Go By\u201d singer, as well as her famous ex, Rolling Stones<\/strong> frontman Mick Jagger<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Variety<\/strong><\/em><\/a> reports that Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes<\/em> star Freya Allan<\/strong> will play Faithfull, who passed away Jan. 30 at the age of 78, while British actor Jojo Macari<\/strong>, who appeared in Netflix\u2019s Sex Education<\/em>, will play Jagger.<\/p>\n

Finnish director Zaida Bergroth<\/strong> is helming the project, titled Faithfull<\/em>. According to the description, the movie will \u201cdepict Marianne Faithfull\u2019s rollercoaster ride from the brightest lights of the wild 1960s of her youth, to fallen golden girl and then her remarkable phoenix-like rise and resurgence\u201d that \u201cestablishes her as one of the great icons and true artists of our time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Faithfull was discovered by Stones manager\u00a0Andrew Loog Oldham\u00a0<\/strong>at a party in 1964.\u00a0She had her first U.S. hit with “As Tears Go By,” a song written by\u00a0Loog Oldham,\u00a0<\/strong>Jagger\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Keith Richards\u00a0<\/strong>that was later a top-10 hit for the Stones. Faithfull released her self-titled debut album in 1965, which was a commercial success, peaking at #12 in the U.S.<\/p>\n

Faithfull and Jagger were in a romantic relationship from 1966 to 1970, and she has often been considered one of Jagger’s muses. She reportedly inspired \u201cSympathy for the Devil,\u201d and she also claimed to have inspired \u201cYou Can\u2019t Always Get What You Want” and \u201cWild Horses.”<\/p>\n
