A new photo book focused on The Who<\/strong>\u2019s early tours of America is coming in May.<\/p>\n

According to the announcement on\u00a0The Who’s Instagram account<\/strong><\/a>, Their Generation: The Who In America 1967-69\u00a0<\/em>features photos from Tom Wright<\/strong>, the band\u2019s official photographer and U.S. tour manager. The book features a foreword by Pete Townshend<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Who\u2019s early American tours were pivotal in shaping their legacy,\u201d reads the post. \u201cFrom 1967 to 1969, they built their US audience with explosive live performances, the release of \u2018I Can See for Miles\u2019, and the debut of \u2018Tommy\u2019 in Detroit.\u201d<\/p>\n

The description notes that Wright\u2019s collection \u201ccaptures The Who on and off stage, from their raw energy at the Fillmore to quiet moments on the road.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Tom Wright\u2019s intimate collection of photography of The Who in the sixties is as passionate and potent as the band itself,\u201d director and former Rolling Stone<\/em> journalist Cameron Crowe<\/strong> shares\u00a0on publisher Omnibus Press’ website. “In these images, you can feel all the combustible energy and camaraderie that still make The Who one of the greatest bands\u2026 if not THE greatest… ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

Their Generation: The Who In America 1967-69<\/em> will be released May 1 and is available for preorder<\/strong><\/a> now. There will also be special editions signed by Townshend.<\/p>\n
