{"id":31496,"date":"2025-02-21T12:02:25","date_gmt":"2025-02-21T12:02:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/lou-reed-paul-simon-david-bowie-more-make-list-of-the-most-disappointing-albums-ever\/"},"modified":"2025-02-21T12:02:25","modified_gmt":"2025-02-21T12:02:25","slug":"lou-reed-paul-simon-david-bowie-more-make-list-of-the-most-disappointing-albums-ever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/lou-reed-paul-simon-david-bowie-more-make-list-of-the-most-disappointing-albums-ever\/","title":{"rendered":"Lou Reed, Paul Simon, David Bowie &amp; more make list of the most disappointing albums ever"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2025-02-20\/M_Songsfromthecapeman_022025.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Sony Music<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\">Not every album from your favorite artist will necessarily be a winner, and now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mojo4music.com\/articles\/the-mojo-list\/most-disappointing-albums-ever\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><strong>Mojo<\/strong><\/em><\/a> is singling out some of those disappointments.<\/p>\n<p>The magazine just released a list of what\u00a0it&#8217;s calling \u201cthe 20 most disappointing albums ever,\u201d although\u00a0it tries to make the case for why they aren\u2019t so bad.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery major artist has at least one album that critics and fans routinely dismiss,\u201d it writes. \u201cYet sometimes they\u2019re records we secretly cherish the most and, when judged strictly on their own merits, reveal themselves to have been badly wronged.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Topping the list is <strong>Lou Reed<\/strong>\u2019s 2003 album,\u00a0<em>The Raven<\/em>, a rock opera inspired by <strong>Edgar Allen Poe<\/strong> that featured guest appearances by <strong>David Bowie<\/strong>, <strong>Willem Dafoe<\/strong>, <strong>Steve Buscemi<\/strong> and others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paul Simon<\/strong>\u2019s 1997 release,\u00a0<em>Songs from the Capeman<\/em>, featuring\u00a0tunes\u00a0from his critically panned Broadway musical <em>The Capeman<\/em>, lands at #2, followed by Bowie\u2019s 1977 album <em>Earthling<\/em> at #3.\u00a0<strong>The Clash<\/strong>\u2019s final album, 1985\u2019s <em>Cut The Crap<\/em>, lands at #4 and <strong>Bob Dylan<\/strong>\u2019s 1985 release,\u00a0<em>Empire Burlesque,<\/em>\u00a0is #5.<\/p>\n<p>Other albums on the list include\u00a0<strong>Pink Floyd<\/strong>\u2019s <em>The Final Cut<\/em> (1983), <strong>Queen<\/strong>\u2019s <em>Hot Space<\/em> (1982), <strong>Neil Young<\/strong>\u2019s <em>Trans<\/em> (1982), <strong>Led Zeppelin<\/strong>\u2019s <em>In Through The Out Door<\/em> (1979), <strong>The Rolling Stones<\/strong>\u2019 <em>Black and Blue<\/em> (1976) and <strong>Van Morrison<\/strong>\u2019s <em>Hard Nose the Highway<\/em> (1973).<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2025, ABC Audio.
