Carlos Santana<\/strong> is set to release the new career-spanning album Sentient<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, featuring 11 tracks, including three previously unreleased songs.<\/p>\n

The album, dropping March 28, features collaborations with Michael Jackson<\/strong>, Smokey Robinson<\/strong>, Miles Davis<\/strong>, Italian pianist\u00a0Paolo Rustichelli<\/strong>, Darryl \u201cDMC\u201d McDaniels<\/strong> and Cindy Blackman Santana<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m always driven by passion, emotion and inner instinct,\u201d says Santana. \u201cWhen I first heard these tracks floating around in the house, I said, \u2018Why don\u2019t we put these all in one place?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The first single released from Sentient<\/em> is a new take on \u201cPlease Don\u2019t Take Your Love,\u201d featuring\u00a0<\/strong>Robinson. The original tune first appeared on Smokey\u2019s 2009 album,\u00a0Time Flies When You\u2019re Having Fun<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI went to the studio and did my own thing,\u201d Santana says of\u00a0recording the song. \u201cI said, \u2018Let\u2019s just roll it.\u2019 I did another take with Smokey sort of guiding me. Smokey loved them both, so he wound up combining the two. What\u2019s on Sentient<\/em> is the first version.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease Don\u2019t Take Your Love<\/strong><\/a>\u201d is\u00a0now available.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Other songs on the album include an instrumental cover of Jackson’s “Stranger in Moscow,” which will be released March 14, and “Get On,”\u00a0from\u00a0Rustichelli\u2019s 1996 album,\u00a0Mystic Man<\/em>,\u00a0featuring Santana and\u00a0Miles Davis<\/strong>, which will be released March 17.<\/p>\n
