Joey Molland<\/strong>, the last surviving original member of the Welsh rock band Badfinger<\/strong>, passed away Saturday at the age of 77, according to the band\u2019s official social media accounts.<\/p>\n

A post on Instagram<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0revealed that Molland died after a \u201c3+ months long battle with multiple health issues.”<\/p>\n

Badfinger rose to fame in the ’70s, thanks to\u00a0top 10 hits\u00a0like \u201cDay After Day<\/strong><\/a>,\u201d produced by Beatle George Harrison,<\/strong>\u00a0which\u00a0went to #4, and\u00a0\u201cCome and Get It,\u201d written and produced by\u00a0Beatle Paul McCartney,\u00a0<\/strong>which went to #8, as well as \u201cBaby Blue,\u201d produced by Todd Rundgren.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another one of their songs, \u201cWithout You<\/strong><\/a>,\u201d became a #1 hit for Harry Nilsson<\/strong> in 1972, and was also covered by Mariah Carey<\/strong><\/a>, who took it to #3 on the Billboard<\/em> chart.<\/p>\n

Badfinger recorded\u00a0several of their albums on The Beatles\u2019 label Apple Records, and Molland wound up appearing on\u00a0a few of the Fab Four\u2019s solo records, including George Harrison<\/strong>\u2019s All Things Must Pass<\/em> and The Concert for Bangladesh<\/em>, and John Lennon<\/strong>\u2019s Imagine<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Molland also released several solo albums throughout his career, his first being After\u00a0the Pearl<\/em>, released in 1983.<\/p>\n

Molland left Badfinger in 1974 over management issues.\u00a0\u00a0In 1978, three years after frontman Peter Ham<\/strong>‘s death by suicide in 1975,\u00a0Molland\u00a0and drummer\u00a0Tom\u00a0Evans<\/strong> revived the group and released two records before splitting and then each touring\u00a0with rival bands, both under the name Badfinger.<\/p>\n

Evans died by suicide in 1983, while drummer\u00a0Mike Gibbins<\/strong> died in 2005.<\/p>\n
