Hi Mars!\u2019 to Linda and me,\u201d he says, referring to his late wife,\u00a0<strong>Linda McCartney<\/strong>. \u201cSo, it was a great observation from them: Venus is the female; Mars is the male. It made a lot of sense, really.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut to us it was just the planets, and the song is just about a kind of space cadet,\u201d he continues. \u201cThere were loads of people at the time who were very \u2018spacey\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The album was recorded in New Orleans, and McCartney says he chose to\u00a0make it somewhere other than\u00a0London because it was around that time it\u00a0became \u201ca little bit of a fashion\u201d for artists to record outside of their home city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was choosing somewhere where I liked the local music,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s a very musical city, so we were really trying to soak up an atmosphere. &#8230; We were just enjoying the buzz of being in a great place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new half-speed master reissue of <em>Venus and Mars<\/em> will be released March 21. The album will also get its first-ever Dolby Atmos release, with <strong>Giles Martin<\/strong> and <strong>Steve Orchard<\/strong> behind the new mix.<\/p>\n<p><em>Venus and Mars (50th Anniversary)\u00a0<\/em>is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/paulmccartney.lnk.to\/venusmars50thPR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>available for preorder<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0now.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2025, ABC Audio.
