A new restaurant and venue inspired by the Grateful Dead<\/strong>\u2019s Jerry Garcia<\/strong> is set to open in Chicago\u2019s West Loop area in March and the initial lineup of performers has just been announced.<\/p>\n

Garcia\u2019s Chicago, the brainchild of Peter Shapiro<\/strong>, who’s also behind The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York, the Brooklyn Bowl chain and more, will open March 21. The first of three shows will be headlined by Grahame Lesh<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>son of the late Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to the venue\u2019s website<\/strong><\/a>, \u201cGarcia\u2019s Chicago is a concert venue and restaurant celebrating Jerry Garcia\u2019s extraordinary legacy, reflecting his heritage, eclectic artistry, and the vibrant community that surrounded him throughout his life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shapiro and\u00a0his company Dayglo Presents worked with the Garcia family on the venue. The website notes, \u201c[E]very element of Garcia\u2019s Chicago has been thoughtfully designed to tell a story, embracing the spirit of Jerry and the worlds he inhabited.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to the Grahame Lesh & Friends shows, the initial Garcia\u2019s lineup\u00a0features shows by The Blind Boys of Alabama<\/strong>, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers<\/strong> keyboardist\u00a0Benmont Tench<\/strong>, Grace Potter<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0The Grateful<\/strong> String Band<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
