Longtime David Bowie<\/strong> producer Tony Visconti<\/strong> is sharing details of the final conversation he had with Bowie before his January 2016 death from liver cancer.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said, \u2018I\u2019ve got something to tell you.\u2019 And he was whispering to me on the phone,\u201d Visconti tells the New York Post<\/strong><\/em><\/a>. \u201cI said, \u2018I can\u2019t hear you. Speak up!\u2019 He goes into another room, and he says, \u2018I\u2019m going to be a grandfather.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Bowie\u2019s son with ex-wife Angie Bowie<\/strong>, director Duncan Jones<\/strong>, had been expecting his first child. The child was born after Bowie\u2019s death and was named Stenton David Jones<\/strong> after the rocker.<\/p>\n

Visconti also shares that despite being ill, Bowie had already been thinking\u00a0about his next record.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe told me that he was going to make another album he started writing,\u201d Visconti says. \u201cAnd I said, \u2018Oh, I can\u2019t wait to hear,\u2019 and he goes, \u2018Yeah, well, right after we get over the holidays, we\u2019ll get together, and I\u2019ll let you hear the music.\u2019 But that was the last time I ever heard from him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bowie’s final album, Blackstar<\/em>, which was produced by Visconti, was released\u00a0on Jan. 8, 2016, his 69th birthday. He died two days later.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t like to think about him dying at all, because, you know, he\u2019s so vibrant, and he\u2019s still alive in spirit and his music,” Visconti shares.\u00a0“Generations are going to grow up and rediscover him, his records will keep selling and selling, and young kids will discover and be inspired by him.”<\/p>\n
