{"id":31639,"date":"2025-03-13T21:02:44","date_gmt":"2025-03-13T21:02:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/sammy-hagar-pays-tribute-to-fan-who-coined-his-red-rocker-nickname\/"},"modified":"2025-03-13T21:02:44","modified_gmt":"2025-03-13T21:02:44","slug":"sammy-hagar-pays-tribute-to-fan-who-coined-his-red-rocker-nickname","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/101gold\/sammy-hagar-pays-tribute-to-fan-who-coined-his-red-rocker-nickname\/","title":{"rendered":"Sammy Hagar pays tribute to fan who coined his Red Rocker nickname"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2025-03-13\/M_SammyHagar_Disney_MikeLeBrechtII_123124.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Disney\/Michael Le Brecht II<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Sammy Hagar<\/strong> is paying tribute to the fan who coined his infamous nickname, the Red Rocker.<\/p>\n<p>Hagar\u00a0posted some photos <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DHEqTjJS4Cd\/?img_index=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>on Instagram<\/strong><\/a> of him with fan <strong>John Pruner<\/strong>, who recently passed away, sharing that they met in 1976 after a concert in Seattle, when Sammy was on tour supporting his <em>Red<\/em> album.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe next morning, I was checking out of the hotel and John pruner the man in these photos, stopped me and asked for an autograph on the newspaper review of the concert,\u201d he writes. \u201che asked me to sign it. &#8216;the Red Rocker&#8217; that was the beginning of being the Red Rocker.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJohn became maybe the first redhead before the fans became redheads,\u201d Sammy adds. \u201cHe followed me around the country showing up everywhere. I got to know him well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sammy says that after Pruner told him he had paid to see over 100 Sammy shows, he decided to hook\u00a0him up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said you will never pay to see me again and gave him the golden lifetime all access pass,\u201d he\u00a0says. \u201cThat was well over 100 shows ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hagar writes\u00a0that Pruner had health issues for over a decade, but\u00a0they didn&#8217;t keep him from attending shows whenever he could.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will miss you, John pruner and the show will go on without you,\u201d Sammy concludes his post. \u201cI know you wouldn&#8217;t have it any other way. Rest in peace my friend and be sure to give eddie a big hug from me,\u201d referring to his former <strong>Van Halen<\/strong> bandmate\u00a0<strong>Eddie Van Halen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2025, ABC Audio.
