Marianne Faithfull<\/strong> passed away in January at the age of 78, but she\u2019s still got music to share.<\/p>\n

A posthumous four-track Marianne Faithfull EP, Burning Moonlight<\/em>, will be released as a limited-edition vinyl for Record Store Day on April 12, with a digital EP to follow on June 6.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we grieve the loss of Marianne, we are pleased to announce the release of these songs which she worked on during the year before her death,\u201d her son,\u00a0Nicholas Dunbar<\/strong>, shared in a statement. \u201cMarianne lived to create and perform music \u2013 it was her driving force and she never stopped. Right up until the end she was looking forward to this release which now completes and celebrates her remarkable artistic career.\u201d<\/p>\n

The EP was recorded to celebrate Marianne\u2019s 60 years in music, with the press release noting the songs mix \u201cher pop roots with her folk influences.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a good time to look back,\u201d\u00a0Faithfull said\u00a0upon completing the recording. \u201cIt helps me to remember all the things I\u2019ve done. I can\u2019t say I\u2019m a particularly nostalgic person, but I am enjoying this period of reflection.\u201d<\/p>\n

To coincide with the announcement, the title track<\/strong><\/a> of the record has been released to digital outlets<\/strong><\/a>. It\u2019s described as a \u201cmoving ballad of resilience and acceptance,” noting it “was inspired by the opening line of her debut single \u2018As Tears Go By,'” which was\u00a0a song written by The Rolling Stones<\/strong>‘\u00a0Mick Jagger <\/strong>and\u00a0Keith Richards<\/strong>,\u00a0and\u00a0their manager Andrew Loog Oldham<\/strong>. The tune later became a top-10 hit for the Stones.<\/p>\n
