Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Graham Nash<\/strong> is blasting a New Jersey resident who used\u00a0one of his most iconic lyrics\u00a0to share what\u00a0Nash\u00a0calls \u201chate and intolerance.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young<\/strong> singer\u00a0took to his Instagram Story<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to respond to a sign that read \u201cboys have a penis, girls have a vagina,\u201d along with \u201cTeach your children well \u2026 Crosby, Stills & Nash.\u201d<\/p>\n

“It has come to my attention that a vile individual in NJ has this sign in his yard with a quote from my song Teach Your Children,\u201d Nash writes. \u201cI want to make it abundantly clear that I do not support this kind of hate and intolerance and that this is a disgusting message that has nothing to do with my song.\u201d<\/p>\n

He adds, \u201cA sign like this is meant to exclude and shame people which is the very opposite of the message that I spread throughout my music.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nash reiterated his support for the transgender community, noting he \u201cwould never seek to make them feel less than or ashamed of being who they are.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finally he writes, \u201cIf you teach your children anything, let it be compassion and understanding. Especially of anyone who might not be exactly like them.\u201d<\/p>\n

“Teach Your Children” was released in 1970 and appeared on the Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young album D\u00e9j\u00e0 Vu<\/em>. It peaked at #16 on the Hot 100 chart, but went on to be one of the band and Nash’s signatures tunes.<\/p>\n
