At least that was the case for PETA\u2019s latest campaign to get Peet\u2019s Coffee to stop charging extra for plant-based milk options.<\/p>\n<p>McCartney, a longtime vegetarian, recently wrote a letter to Peet\u2019s Coffee President and CEO <strong>Eric Lauterbach<\/strong> to try to get him to change the company\u2019s policy of charging 80 cents extra for vegan milks. At the same time,\u00a0 PETA launched a campaign urging the change, which included billboards with McCartney\u2019s image.<\/p>\n<p>It seems the pressure worked: Peet\u2019s gave in just days after the campaign launched and will no longer add the upcharge to drinks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am really happy to hear this!\u201d McCartney said upon hearing the news.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith a little help from our friend Sir Paul McCartney, PETA notched a swift win for animals, the planet, and kind consumers, who shouldn\u2019t be punished for making the ethical and healthy choice to ditch dairy,\u201d says PETA President <strong>Ingrid Newkirk<\/strong>. \u201cPETA is celebrating Peet\u2019s quick decision to get on board with the new industry standard and is urging the few remaining holdouts, including Caribou Coffee and The Coffee Bean &amp; Tea Leaf, to follow suit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Peet\u2019s now joins several other coffee chains, including Starbucks, Dunkin\u2019 and Dutch Bros, that no longer charge customers for dairy-free milk options.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2025, ABC Audio.
