Southern New Mexico P.A.W.S. (Prisoners and Animals Working toward Success) canine graduates will be in attendance
LAS CRUCES – ACTion Programs for Animals (APA) will host a special sale event at its Second Chance Thrift Store Saturday, June 21 to celebrate the end of road construction in the area. The store is located at 2475 N. Main St. and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. All net proceeds from the store go directly to supporting APA’s adoption center and care for its rescue animals.
On Saturday, June 21, everything in the store will be 40% off, and APA’s Southern New Mexico P.A.W.S. (Prisoners and Animals Working toward Success) team will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with some of its prison program graduate dogs who are ready for a home. Volunteers will also run a bake sale during the same hours.

“We expanded our thrift store last October, and we look forward to more support from the community, especially now that the area’s construction has cleared,” said Michel Meunier, APA Executive Director. “Expanding means double the commercial rent expense, and we need our Doña Ana County community’s support to hopefully double our store earnings, too.”
Cassandra Lockwood, the store’s manager, said donations are welcome.
“We welcome gently used donations when we are open, and you can also call our store at 575-888-4882 for pick–up of larger items,” said Lockwood. “We take a lot of pride in our thrift store’s quality content and setup.”

APA has many cats, kittens, dogs and trained dogs from its P.A.W.S. program available for adoption.

Anyone interested in meeting the adoptable animals may visit the APA Adoption Center, located at 537 N. Solano Dr., from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Appointments may also be made by calling 575-571-4654 or emailing mail@apalascruces.org.

About ACTion Programs for Animals
APA offers lifesaving programs and services to rescue at-risk companion animals in Doña Ana County and supports people and their pets in living healthy and happy lives together. We envision a time when all companion animals in our community are valued and treated with respect and kindness. Since May 2012, APA has rescued more than 6,500 animals. The majority of these have been dogs and cats/kittens pulled from the municipal shelter. APA is able to do this through volunteer work of rescue/foster coordinators, foster families and donations. For more information about APA, email mail@apalascruces.org, call/text 575-644-0505 or visit www.apalascruces.org.
