Jack Nixon of Las Cruces Today sat down with Mayor Ken Miyagishima for an update- including hiring a new city manager for Las Cruces, the effects of the pandemic on our local economy, and bringing in a new company to oversee police relations within the community.

A former NFL lineman is the city’s new manager. City councilors hired Ifo Pili had been selected to succeed Stuart Ed. Ed resigned in April 2019.

The council will proceed to negotiate a contract with Pili, who currently serves as City Administrator for Eagle Mountain, Utah. The contract ultimately requires approval by the council in a public meeting. Pili played college football at Brigham Young and then in the NFL for the Eagles and Texans.
