LAS CRUCES – Best Friends Animal Society awarded ACTion Programs for Animals (APA) a $20,000 Rachael Ray Save Them All Grant to go toward APA’s work saving cats and kittens from the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley.

APA Executive Director Michel Meunier said this support is invaluable.

“We were surprised and extremely grateful to learn of our receipt of this very generous Rachael Ray Save Them All Grant from Best Friends Animal Society,” said Meunier. “The funds will be used to help us rescue and vet more than 130 cats and kittens from the animal shelter in the next year. We look forward to continuing our work with the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley in saving more at-risk feline lives in the coming year.”

The APA adoption center is located at 537 N. Solano Dr. and is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

About ACTion Programs for Animals

APA is a progressive animal welfare organization seeking to improve the quality of life for companion animals in Doña Ana County and greatly reduce the number of unwanted animals impounded and euthanized at the municipal shelter. Since May 2012, more than 5,000 animals have been rescued. The majority of these have been dogs and cats/kittens pulled from the municipal shelter. APA is able to do this through volunteer work of rescue/foster coordinators, foster families, weekend adoptions and donations. For more information about APA, email mail@apalascruces.org, call 575-571-4654 or visit www.apalascruces.org.
