According to a statement from the Dona Ana County Clerk’s office, a clerical error was found on absentee ballots sent out recently and has since been corrected with impacted voters contacted.
LAS CRUCES, NM – Last night, the Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office was made aware of a precinct clerical error that impacts voters in precinct 73.
The error has been corrected. The 86 impacted voters will be issued corrected absentee ballots with an official memo from the clerk, and the error will not impact future ballots issued to voters from that precinct. As of today, no voter from that precinct has voted in person or via absentee ballot in the 2020 Primary Election. Candidates and political parties have also been notified.
“We acted immediately and with care to address the clerical error once we were made aware of it,” said Doña Ana County Clerk Amanda López Askin. “Transparency in elections administration is paramount, and we are committed to running an election with integrity and one in which voters can feel confident and know that their votes are counted.”
