Las Cruces Catholic School Releases Video of Burglary Suspect
Las Cruces Catholic School (LCCS) continues to ask for the public’s assistance in locating an individual who broke into the school last weekend and stole more than $5,000 of school property. LCCS is also releasing surveillance video of the burglary and suspect who was allegedly armed with a gun.
The burglary occurred early Sunday morning around 12 a.m. inside one of the school’s portables. The surveillance video shows the suspect fleeing with several items on a bicycle. The suspect returned on foot at around 4 a.m. to a different portable with a dolly. He stole several Chromebooks, laptops, projectors, air purifiers (for air ventilation due to COVID-19), webcams, sanitizers, disinfectant wipes to school books, crayons, STEM project supplies for students, and a personal item from the desks of teachers and students.
On Friday, April 16th, middle school students in 7th grade held a bake sale in order to raise funds for the school. “This is something that was completely their idea,” says Principal Adrian Galaz. “These students were impacted directly by the burglary, but the first thing they did was turn around to create something positive by organizing a bake sale for the entire school.”
A police report has been filed with the Las Cruces Police Department. If you have any information on this burglary or recognize the suspect, please call Las Cruces Police at (575) 526-0795, you can remain anonymous.
