Las Cruces Chamber Ballet presents Americana: Copeland
The Las Cruces Chamber Ballet has a special post Memorial Day treat for lovers of American music and dance.
Beginning with a newly choreographed piece by Applehelen Kirby, “Billy the Kid” is a contemporary take on an old classic uniquely adapted to Aaron Copeland’s famous western by the same name. Another Copeland work, “Rodeo”, is choreographed by Artistic Director Kevin Self and reflects his touring days with world famous choreographer Agnes de Mille.
Joining the Las Cruces Chamber Ballet dancers will be Nicholas Gallegos singing American folk tunes. He will be accompanied by Jennifer Rogers, LCCB’s musical liaison for the LCCB Orchestra. The LCCB Orchestra will debut in this year’s upcoming 40th Annual Production of “The Nutcracker” Ballet.
The one-time performance will be Saturday, June 3rd at 2:00 at the NMSU Atkinson Music Recital Hall. For Ticket information, visit lascruceschamberballet.org
