NMMBA RECOGNIZES EXCELLENCE IN BROADCASTING
FAWARDS REFLECT OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN 2020The New Mexico Broadcasters Association (NMBA) announced the winners of the association’s Excellence in Broadcasting Awards today. The awards reflect the outstanding achievement of broadcasters during 2020 and the unprecedented events of the year. Winning entries demonstrate the exceptional, wide-ranging news coverage and public information, as well as entertaining content, creative production and new programming ideas for a stay-at-home audience. The winning entries represent innovation and originality across New Mexico four radio markets and one television market.Stations of the Year were determined for each division:
Small Market Radio – KNCE, True Taos Radio, Taos
Medium Market Radio – KSMX-FM, Rooney Moon Broadcasting, Clovis Radio Large Market Radio – KRWG-FM, KRWG Public Radio, Las Cruces
Metro Market Radio – KQTM, Team Broadcasting, Rio Rancho
Television Market – KOB-TV 4, Hubbard Broadcasting, Albuquerque
Broadcast professionals from Alabama, Colorado, Connecticut, Kansas and Louisiana representing television and radio of similar market sizes, served as this year’s judges.
The Excellence in Broadcasting Awards also recognize those stations that excelled in their partnerships with their community. A Public Service Campaign award will be presented to winning stations along with a check for $2000 from the New Mexico Broadcasters Foundation that will be gifted to the agency or cause recognized in the partnership.

The annual NMBA Excellence in Broadcasting Awards will be presented during this year’s NMBA Virtual Convention on Friday, September 24, 2021.
The NMBA has worked since the beginning of broadcasting in the state to maintain and protect the ability of local broadcasters to operate their stations and serve their communities. The NMBA advocates on behalf of New Mexico’s broadcasting industry, representing a majority of the state’s radio and television stations.
