Emma Stone<\/strong>\u00a0apparently learned the hard way that when it comes to Swifties, even the most gentle ribbing can be seen as an attack on their queen.<\/p>\n

When Stone won a Golden Globe for her role in Poor Things<\/em>, her longtime friend Taylor Swift<\/strong> gave her a\u00a0standing ovation<\/strong><\/a> as she accepted the award. Afterward, reporters asked her about Taylor.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“What an a******, am I right?\u201d Stone joked<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cI\u2019ve known her for almost 20 years, so I was very happy she was there. She was also nominated tonight, which was wonderful, and, um, yes, what an a******.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a new interview with <\/em>Variety<\/strong><\/em><\/a>,<\/em> Stone said that she regrets her attempt at humor that night, because some Swifties were offended. “I definitely won\u2019t make a joke like that again,\u201d Stone told Variety.<\/em> “Because I saw headlines that really pulled it out of context.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

She then pointed at herself and said, “What a dope.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stone told\u00a0Vanity Fair<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>last year that she and Taylor have known each other “since we were 17 and 18,” adding, “She\u2019s a wonderful friend.” In 2011, Taylor said Stone and\u00a0Selena Gomez\u00a0<\/strong>were “like sisters to me.”<\/p>\n

Incidentally, Stone won’t confirm whether or not Taylor’s song “When Emma Falls In Love” is about her. All she’s said\u00a0about\u00a0it is, “You would have to ask her.”<\/p>\n
