{"id":117199,"date":"2024-02-27T18:02:42","date_gmt":"2024-02-27T18:02:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/magic\/2024\/02\/27\/don-henley-testifies-about-poor-decision-that-led-to-his-1980-arrest\/"},"modified":"2024-02-27T18:02:42","modified_gmt":"2024-02-27T18:02:42","slug":"don-henley-testifies-about-poor-decision-that-led-to-his-1980-arrest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/magic\/2024\/02\/27\/don-henley-testifies-about-poor-decision-that-led-to-his-1980-arrest\/","title":{"rendered":"Don Henley testifies about \u201cpoor decision\u201d that led to his 1980 arrest"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-02-27\/Getty_DonHenley_022724.jpg\" alt><figcaption>David Delgado 146187\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Eagles <\/strong>frontman<strong> Don Henley<\/strong> took the stand on Monday, February 26, to testify in the trial over\u00a0stolen handwritten notes and lyrics\u00a0to the band&#8217;s classic album <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">Hotel California<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Glen Horowitz<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Craig Inciardi\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Edward Kosinki <\/strong>are<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>accused of trying to sell\u00a0the\u00a0handwritten notes, despite knowing they were stolen. <strong>Ed Sanders<\/strong>, an author who&#8217;d been hired to write an Eagles biography, originally stole them in the late 1970s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">According to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/don-henley-testimony-eagles-stolen-lyrics-trial-1234976419\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Rolling Stone<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a><em><span class=\"s1\">,<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\"> during his testimony, Henley said he didn\u2019t remember sending Sanders the lyric pads to use for the biography. He then added, \u201cYou know what? It does not matter if I had driven them across the country in a U-Haul truck and dumped them at his front door. He had no right to keep or sell them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Henley also testified about an arrest in 1980, which he called a \u201cpoor decision.\u201d\u00a0His lawyer brought up the incident, which appeared to be a preemptive move after the defense had indicated that they planned to bring it up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Henley was arrested after a woman he had hired through a madam had a seizure in his home, and cops found drugs at his place. He pled no contest to contributing to the delinquency of a minor.\u00a0Henley\u00a0said he thought she was 20 or 21 but later found out she was 16 or 17. He wound up being sentenced to two year\u2019s probation and paid a fine of $2,500.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI made a poor decision, which I regret to this day,\u201d he said. \u201cI have had to live with it for 44 years.
