Happy Birthday, Elton John<\/strong>!<\/span><\/p>\n

The man born Reginald Kenneth Dwight<\/strong>\u00a0turns 77 on March 25, and even though he’s officially “retired” from touring as of last\u00a0 year, he hasn’t slowed down at all.<\/span><\/p>\n

Just in the last few months, he’s become an EGOT \u2014 winning an Emmy to go with his two Oscars, Tony and five Grammys \u2014 and received the prestigious <\/span>Gershwin Prize for Popular Music<\/strong><\/span><\/a> from the Library of Congress. He also raised a record $10.8 million dollars for his Elton John AIDS Fund via the 32nd edition of his Academy Awards Viewing Party.<\/span><\/p>\n

Elton also has a new musical, <\/span>Tammy Faye<\/span><\/em>, opening on Broadway in October, and another musical, <\/span>The Devil Wears Prada<\/span><\/em>, opening in London’s West End around the same time.<\/span><\/p>\n

Starting May 18, some of Elton and his husband’s <\/span>vast collection of photographs<\/strong><\/span><\/a> will go on display at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum in an exhibit called<\/span>\u00a0Fragile Beauty: Photographs from the Sir Elton John and David Furnish Collection.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

As for new music from Elton, his husband and manager, David Furnish<\/strong>,\u00a0told\u00a0<\/span>Variety<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0in February, “<\/em>I don\u2019t think you\u2019re going to have to wait too long [for new music]. I can\u2019t say when but he\u2019s making real progress.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

It wasn’t clear whether Furnish was talking about the album that Elton, speaking at November’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, claimed to have “just finished.”<\/p>\n
