Jon Bon Jovi<\/strong> is still working on getting his voice back to what it was before he underwent surgery for atrophied vocal cords \u2014 and if he doesn’t, that may mean the end of his touring career.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the first time I\u2019m saying this,\u201d the 62-year-old tells the U.K.’s\u00a0<\/span>The Sunday Times<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/a>. \u201cIf the singing is not great, if I can\u2019t be the guy I once was … then I\u2019m done.\u201d He adds, \u201cAnd I\u2019m good with that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Bon Jovi<\/strong>\u00a0is getting ready to release their new album,\u00a0<\/span>Forever,<\/span><\/em> on June 7, and while\u00a0Jon may sound OK on the record, that doesn\u2019t necessarily mean his voice is ready for a tour yet, and he’s not 100% sure it ever will be.<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a big difference between being in a studio and going out on the road,\u201d he says. \u201cBut I want to perform for two and a half hours a night, four nights a week \u2014 and I know how good I can be.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>\n

He adds, \u201c[So] if I can\u2019t be\u00a0<\/span>that\u00a0<\/span><\/em>guy … put it this way, I don\u2019t ever need to be the fat Elvis.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Jon’s surgery is one of the many storylines in\u00a0the upcoming four-part Hulu\u00a0docuseries\u00a0<\/span>Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.\u00a0<\/span><\/em>It’s set to premiere April 26.<\/span><\/p>\n
