Taylor Swift<\/strong>‘s The Tortured Poets Department<\/em> had already broken many records on its way to what was a certain #1 debut on the Billboard<\/em> 200 album chart.\u00a0 Now it’s accomplished that — and racked up the highest sales week in nine years.<\/p>\n

The album takes the top spot on the chart with 2.61 million equivalent album units earned. That’s the largest amount of equivalent album units since 2015, when Adele<\/strong> blasted in with 3.482 million units of her album 25<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Of those 2.61 million units, 1.914 million copies came from traditional album sales, meaning digital downloads, CDs, vinyl and cassettes, as opposed to streaming. That gives Tortured Poet<\/em>s the third-largest sales week in the modern era, which Billboard<\/em> dates to 1991, the beginning of electronic sales tracking.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The only two albums that have sold more in a single week are Adele’s 25<\/em>, with 3.378 million, and *NSYNC’<\/strong>s No Strings Attached, <\/em>with 2.416 million.<\/p>\n

What’s more, Taylor now ties Jay-Z<\/strong> for the solo artist with the most #1 albums on the Billboard<\/em> 200 chart: Both have 14. Only The Beatles<\/strong> have more, with 19.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Taylor responded to the massive numbers by writing on Instagram<\/a>, “My mind is blown. I\u2019m completely floored by the love you\u2019ve shown this album. 2.6 million ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS?? Thank you for listening, streaming, and welcoming Tortured Poets<\/em> into your life. Feeling completely overwhelmed. I was already so fired up to get back to the tour but you doing THIS?? May 9th can\u2019t come soon enough.”<\/p>\n

And speaking of the tour, on April 27, she and her boyfriend Travis Kelce<\/strong> attended Patrick Mahomes<\/strong>‘ Golf Classic charity gala, and while there, Travis announced<\/a> that his “significant other” had decided to donate four tickets to the Eras Tour to be auctioned off. People<\/em> reports<\/a> that those tickets brought in $80,000.<\/p>\n
