Shawn Mendes<\/strong> dropped dual tracks off his upcoming fifth album: the lead single \u201cWhy Why Why\u201d<\/a> and a second song called \u201cIsn\u2019t That Enough.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

He also released the music video for \u201cWhy Why Why,\u201d shot in New York\u2019s Hudson Valley, where songs from the album were written and recorded. On the personal track, he addresses his feelings surrounding a breakup and choosing to take a break from performing for the sake of his mental health.<\/p>\n

\u201cI needed to address that, \u2018Hey, how have you been?\u2019 And I needed to say back, \u2018I’m good. Everything’s good. It’s going to be good. It’s all right,\u2019\u201d Shawn tells Apple Music\u2019s Zane Lowe<\/strong><\/a> of the song.<\/p>\n

The other track, \u201cIsn\u2019t That Enough,\u201d is a slower, more folk-influenced tune. Shawn says his mom had an unexpected reaction to it.<\/p>\n

\u201cCompletely out of my mom’s vernacular, but I remember when I played her the song and the video, the first thing she said was, \u2018Oh wow, babe, you found yourself,\u2019\u201d he says. \u201cAnd it’s like, my mom would never say words like that. It’s not something she would say, gave me chills when she said it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both songs will appear on his new album, Shawn<\/em>, out Oct. 18.<\/p>\n
