Brown played in Joel\u2019s band from 1978 to 1991 and appeared on all of Joel\u2019s albums from 1978\u2019s <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">52nd Street\u00a0<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">to 1986\u2019s <\/span><em><span class=\"s1\">The Bridge<\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI am so sorry to hear that David Brown has passed away,\u201d Joel wrote <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C-nuU5jPbWC\/?img_index=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>on Instagram<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> next to photos of the musician. \u201cHe had such a young heart and such extraordinary musical talent,&#8221; adding, &#8220;I send my deepest respects to his family.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">News of Brown\u2019s death was first revealed on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/liberty.devitto\/posts\/pfbid02F4zHQ3vw2oDCrjNUE4sEr9QAGgASswPGsdKsxpCLExTcuL12e2gZPJykcdPKwTYyl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>social media<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> by Joel\u2019s former drummer <strong>Liberty DeVito<\/strong>, who shared, \u201cI am heart broken to hear my old band mate David Brown passed away.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Mark Rivera<\/strong>, who has been Joel\u2019s saxophonist since 1982, shared <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/facebook.com\/mark.rivera.1023\/posts\/pfbid029X35TMLEMrVna5Uj4pf2ussW1H7phhpJ2mhXvXgjsNFL2zGGirRvHXZSQk8j4gR6l\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>on Facebook<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s1\"> that Brown passed away Sunday, and\u00a0reflected on how his connection with Brown led to him being hired by Billy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI can\u2019t say enough about the Beauty and Grace that David brought to Every musical endeavor that we shared,\u201d Rivera noted. \u201cHis Sound and Feel were like no other.
