Celine Dion<\/strong>\u00a0has paid tribute to songwriter Will Jennings<\/strong>, following reports that he passed away at the age of 80.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jennings was a co-writer on Dion\u2019s Oscar-winning <\/span>Titanic<\/span><\/em> song \u201cMy Heart Will Go On\u201d and also penned\u00a0another Oscar winner, \u201cUp Where We Belong,”\u00a0sung by\u00a0Joe Cocker<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Jennifer Warnes<\/strong>,\u00a0from\u00a0<\/span>An Officer and a Gentleman<\/span><\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so saddened to hear of the loss of Will Jennings. Will was more than just a brilliant lyricist; he was a friend and a creative partner to so many incredible artists,\u201d Celine <\/span>shared on social media<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. \u201cIt was one of the great fortunes of my career to have the opportunity to sing Will\u2019s lyrics for ‘My Heart Will Go On’ but they are an even greater gift to the world, these words that touched us all, and will go on forever.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhile his tender spirit and immense talent will be missed, his legacy will continue to resonate through the music that touched all of our hearts,” she added.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jennings, who was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2006, also wrote Eric Clapton<\/strong>‘s “Tears in Heaven,” from the movie\u00a0<\/span>Rush<\/span><\/em>, which won him a Golden Globe.<\/span><\/p>\n

He was also a regular collaborator with\u00a0Steve Winwood<\/strong>, co-writing the British artist’s #1 hits “Higher Love” and “Roll With It,” as well as “While You See a Chance,” “Valerie,” “Back In the High Life Again” and “Don’t You Know What the Night Can Do.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Among his other compositions:\u00a0Whitney Houston<\/strong>‘s “Didn’t We Almost Have It All,”\u00a0Dionne Warwick<\/strong>‘s “I’ll Never Love this Way Again” and\u00a0Barry Manilow<\/strong>‘s “Looks Like We Made It.”<\/span><\/p>\n
