At 77, Elton John<\/strong> is more than 15 years older than his husband, David Furnish<\/strong>,\u00a061, and has had a number of health issues over the last few years. Still, Furnish believes that Elton just might be around longer than he will.<\/p>\n

According to People<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> in the new documentary Elton John: Never Too Late<\/em>, Elton discusses the possibility that he won’t be around to see his sons Zachary<\/strong>, 13, and Elijah<\/strong>, 11, experience some of life’s big milestones. And even though Furnish co-directed the doc, he tells People<\/em> that watching that scene gave him “a\u00a0lot of anxiety.”<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019s a conversation you want to have with your children. I don\u2019t want to plant that seed in their mind,\u201d says Furnish. “Elton\u2019s been through a lot, but he\u2019s also as strong as an ox. He rarely cancels shows. He\u2019s a strong man, and he\u2019s a healer. He\u2019ll probably outlive me. He\u2019s just so tough.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLook, I want him to be around forever. And both of us, in the 30 years we\u2019ve been together, we\u2019re only just at this moment that we\u2019ve only ever dreamed of,\u201d he adds. \u201cElton was always doing 90, 100 shows a year, working constantly. … So\u00a0for us to be at this moment right now, after so much hard work and so much anticipation, there\u2019s a lot of heightened emotion.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the documentary, according to People<\/em>, Elton says his kids \u201cworry about my mortality.\u201d<\/p>\n

He says in the film, “I want to see them have children and get married. I don’t think I’m going to be around for that. Who knows? You never know. So that\u2019s why I want to use … the best of my time \u2014 while I\u2019m around. Time together is so wonderful and so precious.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
