{"id":118602,"date":"2024-10-13T21:01:57","date_gmt":"2024-10-13T21:01:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/magic\/2024\/10\/13\/billy-joel-welcomes-axl-rose-john-mayer-to-his-show-in-la\/"},"modified":"2024-10-13T21:01:57","modified_gmt":"2024-10-13T21:01:57","slug":"billy-joel-welcomes-axl-rose-john-mayer-to-his-show-in-la","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/magic\/2024\/10\/13\/billy-joel-welcomes-axl-rose-john-mayer-to-his-show-in-la\/","title":{"rendered":"Billy Joel welcomes Axl Rose, John Mayer to his show in LA"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-10-13\/Getty%20billy%20and%20axl%20msg_101324.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Kevin Mazur\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>Billy Joel<\/strong> played the brand-new venue in the LA area &#8212; Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California &#8212; on Oct. 12, and welcomed two special guests to the stage.<\/p>\n<p>When Billy closed out his residency at New York&#8217;s Madison Square Garden in July, <strong>Guns n&#8217; Roses<\/strong> singer <strong>Axl Rose<\/strong> was his special guest, and Rose returned again on Saturday night, singing GN&#8217;R&#8217;s version of <strong>Wings<\/strong>&#8216; James Bond theme &#8220;Live and Let Die.&#8221; Unlike the MSG show, though, Axl &#8212; who briefly sang lead for <strong>AC\/DC<\/strong> a few years ago &#8212; didn&#8217;t join Billy for a cover of &#8220;Highway to Hell.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Billy&#8217;s second guest of the evening was <strong>John Mayer<\/strong>, who played guitar as Billy sang &#8220;This Is the Time,&#8221; a romantic ballad from his 1986 album <em>The Bridge<\/em>. John played the same song with Billy in 2008 during the Piano Man&#8217;s <em>Last Play at Shea<\/em> concerts in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>Billy&#8217;s next show is Oct. 25 at the Alamodome in St. Antonio, Texas. On Nov. 9, he&#8217;ll play a double bill with <strong>Sting<\/strong> in Las Vegas&#8217; Allegiant Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
