In a recent interview with Vanity Fair<\/em>, Ariana Grande<\/strong> said of her boyfriend\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Wicked<\/em> co-star Ethan Slater<\/strong>, “There is no one on this earth with a better heart, and that is something that no bulls*** tabloid can rewrite in real life.\u201d Now it’s Slater’s turn to return the compliment \u2014 while complaining about said tabloids.<\/p>\n

Speaking to <\/strong>GQ<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, Slater raves about Ariana’s acting ability, saying, “My unbiased opinion is that she\u2019s one of the best comedians that\u2019s been in a movie in a long time. She\u2019s a genius.\u201d<\/p>\n

“I’m just really, really proud of Ari and the work she\u2019s done on this,” he adds. “She\u2019s poured herself into it. I\u2019m really proud that I got to be there for that part of it, and I\u2019m really excited to be there for this next step of it when the world gets to see the amazing thing that she did.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked by GQ<\/em> for his thoughts on\u00a0Ariana’s song “Imperfect for You” reportedly being about him, he says, “She\u2019s such an amazing performer, and I think everyone knows how good she is [as] a recording artist and all that\u00a0\u2014 but I\u2019m just really blown away by the songwriting. I love that song.\u201d He doesn’t confirm the subject, however.<\/p>\n

Of course, Slater’s relationship with Ariana came amid tabloid headlines claiming\u00a0\u2014 erroneously, they both say\u00a0\u2014 that he’d left his wife and child for her. Slater tells GQ<\/em>, “There were a lot of big changes in private lives that were really happening, so it\u2019s really hard to see people who don\u2019t know anything about what\u2019s happening commenting on it and speculating, and then getting things wrong about the people you love.”<\/p>\n

“So just to address that part of it, that feels really hard.”<\/p>\n
