When Maroon 5<\/strong> released their single “Memories” in 2019, it reached #2 on the Billboard<\/em> Hot 100 and\u00a0#1 on three other Billboard<\/em> charts. Now it’s back on top of yet another one of the publication’s endless charts, for an unlikely reason.<\/p>\n

In October\u00a0Billboard<\/em> launched its Top Movie Songs chart to track how being featured in a movie \u2014 either in theaters or streaming \u2014 affects a song’s streaming and download numbers. The second edition of the chart<\/a> is out and “Memories” is number one, thanks to\u00a0it being featured\u00a0in the movie Venom: The Last Dance<\/em><\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

The movie, starring Tom Hardy<\/strong>, is the third in a trilogy featuring the Marvel Comics character Venom. According to Luminate, <\/em>which tracks data for Billboard<\/em>, “Memories” has racked up nearly\u00a09 million streams and sold 1,000 downloads since the movie was released on Oct. 25. The song is the last one heard in the film before it ends and the credits roll.<\/p>\n

The #2\u00a0song on the chart is also from Venom<\/em>:\u00a0Queen<\/strong>‘s “Don’t Stop Me Now.”<\/p>\n

By the way, the song that topped the inaugural<\/a> Movie Songs chart was “Tragedy” by the Bee Gees<\/strong>, thanks to its inclusion in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.<\/em><\/p>\n
