The Wicked<\/em> promotional run has become the press tour that has spawned a thousand memes<\/a>, as stars Ariana Grande<\/strong> and Cynthia Erivo<\/strong> were seen constantly tearing up, full-out crying and being dramatic while talking about the film. But the star of another musical film \u2014 albeit an animated one \u2014 says people just don’t understand what it’s like to be, as she puts it, “a theater kid.”<\/p>\n

Auli\u2019i Cravalho<\/strong>, who provides the voice of the main character in Disney’s Moana<\/em> and Moana 2,<\/em> tells Vanity Fair<\/em><\/a>, \u201cI need people to understand what it\u2019s like to be a theater kid. Being a theater kid is emotional. Get off my girls Ariana and Cynthia\u2019s backs. Do you understand me?”<\/p>\n

She continues, “You don\u2019t know what it\u2019s like to be working on a film for this long. The film is two hours and 40 minutes long. If you\u2019re not crying after working with someone for that long, and you\u2019re both theater kids and you\u2019re singing live … I am very passionate about this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Auli\u2019i says she plans to see Wicked<\/em> as soon as she can.<\/p>\n
