Releasing\u00a0a holiday record has been a long time coming for Dan + Shay<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Their first Christmas song, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” arrived in 2013. And since then, they’ve\u00a0dropped\u00a0several\u00a0standalone\u00a0tracks, including <\/span>“It’s Officially Christmas,”<\/strong><\/span><\/a> the spirited title track of their new, 21-track double album, as well as their current hit, “<\/span>Pick Out a Christmas Tree<\/span><\/a>.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“This has been\u00a010 years in the making of actually having a double Christmas album,” Shay Mooney<\/strong> tells ABC Audio. “It’s amazing, man. The reception [to it] has been incredible already.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“We’ve had some original Christmas songs out the past few years and there’s a few of them that are [RIAA-certified] Platinum, and it’s just like, ‘Man, this is so cool to be able to kind of be in that Christmas world,'” he says.<\/span><\/p>\n

Shay hopes their\u00a0record expands\u00a0beyond\u00a0this\u00a0calendar year and truly becomes a multigenerational\u00a0holiday mainstay.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I think that, you know, this is going to be a big part of our legacy,” he shares. “I feel like for the next 50 years, our hope is that that’s going to be a part of this next generation, you know, coming\u00a0[out] of growing up listening to this Christmas album, including my kids.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“I don’t know, it’s something really, really special that hopefully will continue to build on for the next 50 years.”<\/span><\/p>\n
