Sabrina Carpenter<\/strong> has been releasing music since 2014 and her current, hit-packed album Short n’ Sweet<\/em> is actually her sixth full-length release. Despite that, she’s up for best new artist at the Grammy Awards\u00a0in February\u00a0\u2014 but she doesn’t mind how long it’s taken to get the recognition.<\/p>\n

Sabrina, who has six Grammy nods this year, tells People<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, “I\u2019ve always been true to myself and believed in my work since I was young. I\u2019ve realized that it\u2019s always been about the small baby steps that you take over time to get you to this point.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, Sabrina says finally being nominated is “such an honor,” since it’s been a goal of hers since she was a child. And as she prepares to continue her Short n’ Sweet tour overseas in March, she tells People<\/em> she still hasn’t processed everything that’s happened to her in the past year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think I have fully reflected yet, as I\u2019m also trying to be present in the moment,\u201d she says. \u201cBut I\u2019m just happy to see my songs connect with so many people from all walks of life. That\u2019s why I love to write songs.\u201d<\/p>\n
