As part of its new survey of the first 25 years of the 2000s, Billboard<\/em> has compiled a list of the Top Hot 100 Songs of the 21st Century<\/a>, based on performance on the Hot 100 from 2000 through the end of 2024, and the #1\u00a0song belongs to The Weeknd<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Canadian star’s “Blinding Lights” tops the list thanks to the fact that from February 2020 to April 2021 it spent a record 57 weeks in the top 10 \u2014 including four weeks at #1. It also spent a record 86 weeks in the top 40.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

While you might think the songs that spent the longest at\u00a0#1 would be tops, the fact that “Blinding Light” is tops proves that it’s more about how long a song stays in the upper reaches of the chart than how long it spent in the pole position.<\/p>\n

The rest of the top 10 proves this point, as well. The two songs that hold the record for the most weeks at #1\u00a0\u2014 “Old Town Road” and “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” both with 19 weeks\u00a0\u2014 are nowhere to be found. And\u00a0Dua Lipa<\/strong>‘s “Levitating,” which never even hit #1, is in the top 10 because it spent 77 weeks on the chart.<\/p>\n

Coming in at #2 on the new list is 2015’s “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars<\/strong> and Mark Ronson<\/strong>, followed by 2021’s “Stay” by Justin Bieber<\/strong> and The Kid LAROI<\/strong>. Number four is “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 remember them? That was #1 for six weeks in 2011. Number five is “I Gotta Feeling” by Black Eyed Peas<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
