The man who owns a home Adele<\/strong> rented for six months in 2012 says he can’t sell it because she went on TV and said the place was haunted.<\/p>\n

In 2012, Adele was interviewed by Anderson Cooper<\/strong> on 60 Minutes<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>and gave him a tour around the mansion, located in the English countryside. She said of the mostly empty house, “This bit’s all quite scary, really. It was a convent for a little while.” This led Cooper to joke, “Ever seen\u00a0The Shining?” \u2014<\/em>\u00a0a film that takes place in an empty, haunted hotel in Colorado. <\/em>Adele responded by quoting a line from the film.<\/p>\n

The Times of London<\/em> reports that the mansion’s current owner,\u00a0Nicholas Sutton<\/strong>, claims he’s been forced to try to turn the $7 million home into separate units because he can’t find anyone to buy it \u2014 and that’s because Adele “blighted the property by saying it is haunted.”<\/p>\n

In his planning application to make changes to the house, Sutton claims that he’s tried to sell the property for 14 years, and in all that time he only had one offer. That buyer, he claims, “withdrew after learning about the property\u2019s supposed haunted status, which was publicly mentioned by Adele during her tenancy.”<\/p>\n

Sutton states, “Unfortunately, during an interview on CBS, Adele remarked that she believed the house to be haunted. This comment negatively impacted future marketing efforts and continues to affect the property\u2019s reputation to this day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Adele still lives in a mansion, except it’s in LA, not the U.K.<\/p>\n
