Teddy Swims<\/strong>, whose song “Lose Control” was\u00a0Billboard<\/em>‘s biggest hit of 2024, is nominated for best new artist at this Sunday night’s Grammys, but he’s just one of many stars who had big breakthroughs in the past year — and Teddy says he’s proud to be one of the gang.<\/p>\n

“I think this year is historical for new artists,” Teddy told ABC Audio in December. “You know, it’s really been a breakthrough awakening, I think, about new artists coming in that are, I think, legacy artists.”<\/p>\n

The other nominees for best new artist include Teddy’s good friend Benson Boone<\/strong>, Chappell Roan<\/strong>, Sabrina Carpenter<\/strong>, Shaboozey,<\/strong> Gracie Abrams<\/strong>, British singer\u00a0RAYE<\/strong>, rapper Doechii<\/strong> and Texas instrumental trio Khruangbin<\/strong>, whose name means “airplane” in Thai.<\/p>\n

“My dawg Shaboozey, and Benson…. I mean, Chappell, Sabrina Carpenter, like I’m honored to be in this new rookie season,” Teddy told ABC Audio. “I think it’s the biggest ever year for new artists, I would say.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

But even if Teddy loses, he’s a winner: He’s performing on the telecast, he just released his second album and he’s expecting his first child with his girlfriend.<\/p>\n

Overall,\u00a0Beyonc\u00e9<\/strong> is the leading Grammy nominee with 11 nods, followed by Charli XCX<\/strong> with eight nominations, Billie Eilish<\/strong> with seven and\u00a0Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Taylor Swift<\/strong> with six each.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Recording Academy has said that this year’s show will “carry a renewed sense of purpose: raising additional funds to support Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect others.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The 67th annual Grammy Awards, hosted by\u00a0Trevor Noah<\/strong>, will air Sunday on CBS live from Crypto.com Arena in LA starting at 8 p.m. ET; it’ll also stream live\u00a0on Paramount+.\u00a0<\/p>\n
