Elton John<\/strong> and Brandi Carlile<\/strong> are giving fans another preview of their upcoming collaborative album,\u00a0Who Believes in Angels?<\/em><\/p>\n

They’ve\u00a0just released the new\u00a0track\u00a0\u201cSwing for the Fences<\/strong><\/a>,\u201d the second\u00a0song released from the album following the title track.<\/p>\n

On the album, the song follows tunes about singers Little Richard<\/strong> and Laura Nyro<\/strong>, and in\u00a0a new interview<\/strong><\/a> with Apple Music\u2019s Zane Lowe<\/strong>, Brandi shares the placement makes sense because they were both \u201cqueer predecessors\u201d to her and Elton who\u00a0were not able to live their lives openly.<\/p>\n

She notes that the song is \u201ckind of an anthem of encouragement to LGBTQ youth,\u201d adding, \u201cI think it’s a really interesting way to follow up the lives of those two icons that influenced us so much, but I think who deep down we wish could have walked through the world the way we\u2019re getting to walk through the world now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brandi says, \u201cHopefully it can help those marginalized kids and those young people right now and they can look to me and Elton and they can go, ‘Yeah, I’m going to be\u00a0OK.\u00a0Yeah, I’m going to be all right, yeah,’ because we got their back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elton tells Lowe that the tune is a \u201cpositive\u201d one, noting \u201celectricity is flowing through that song.” In a press release he\u00a0shared that recording the song \u201cwas the moment that crystallized where the album was going.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSwing for the Fences\u201d is available now.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n
