{"id":105485,"date":"2024-05-08T12:04:31","date_gmt":"2024-05-08T12:04:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/newstalklc\/man-purposely-trying-to-spread-hiv-through-sex-with-men-and-teenage-boys-sentenced-to-30-years\/"},"modified":"2024-05-08T12:04:31","modified_gmt":"2024-05-08T12:04:31","slug":"man-purposely-trying-to-spread-hiv-through-sex-with-men-and-teenage-boys-sentenced-to-30-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/newstalklc\/man-purposely-trying-to-spread-hiv-through-sex-with-men-and-teenage-boys-sentenced-to-30-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Man &#8216;purposely&#8217; trying to spread HIV through sex with men and teenage boys sentenced to 30 years"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-05-08\/GETTYRF_91922_JailCell%20%288%29.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Darrin Klimek\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>(NEW YORK) &#8212; A 34-year-old Idaho man has been imprisoned for at least 30 years after &#8220;purposely&#8221; trying to spread HIV through sexual contact with both men and teenage boys, prosecutors say.<\/p>\n<p>This investigation began in August 2023 as a child enticement case, according to the Ada County Prosecutor\u2019s Office in Idaho, when Alexander Louie initially began an online sexual conversation with who he believed was a 15-year-old boy but was actually an undercover Ada County Sheriff\u2019s Detective.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Louie organized to meet up with the person he believed was the boy for sex, and was arrested,\u201d prosecutors said following the announcement of Louie\u2019s sentence. \u201cAs the investigation continued, law enforcement uncovered that Mr. Louie, who is HIV positive, was not taking his medication, and purposely having sexual contact with both men and teenage boys in hopes to transfer HIV to them. He lied to these victims about his HIV status. Through the defendant\u2019s own admissions, he had sexual intercourse with 30-50 different men and boys, including a 16-year-old.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Ada County District Judge Derrick O\u2019Neill sentenced Louie to a 30-year prison sentence, 16 of which must be served before being eligible for parole.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour conduct would be the Webster\u2019s definition of a predator,\u201d said Judge O\u2019Neill during the defendant\u2019s sentencing Friday for a felony charge of transferring body fluids containing the HIV virus, among other felony charges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis defendant\u2019s repeated and egregious offenses negatively impacted many people in our community,\u201d added Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts. \u201cI want to thank the Ada County Sheriff\u2019s Detective and my trial team. Their hard work on this case ensured Mr. Louie was brought to justice in order to protect our community from his predatory and dangerous conduct.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
