{"id":106614,"date":"2024-08-01T12:00:48","date_gmt":"2024-08-01T12:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/newstalklc\/man-intentionally-runs-over-and-kills-flock-of-25-seagulls-with-his-jeep-at-the-beach-police\/"},"modified":"2024-08-01T12:00:48","modified_gmt":"2024-08-01T12:00:48","slug":"man-intentionally-runs-over-and-kills-flock-of-25-seagulls-with-his-jeep-at-the-beach-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/newstalklc\/man-intentionally-runs-over-and-kills-flock-of-25-seagulls-with-his-jeep-at-the-beach-police\/","title":{"rendered":"Man &#8216;intentionally&#8217; runs over and kills flock of 25 seagulls with his jeep at the beach: Police"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-08-01\/Seagulls-WA_1722494031388_hpMain.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Police<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>(NEW YORK) &#8212; A man has \u201cintentionally\u201d run over and killed a flock of 25 seagulls with his Jeep Cherokee before almost running over two people and their dogs, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred last Saturday around 8 p.m. when the unidentified suspect was driving his silver four-door Jeep Cherokee approximately 1.7 miles south of the Klipsan Beach approach outside of Long Beach in Pacific County in Washington, some 180 miles southwest of Seattle, according to a statement from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Police.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe same Jeep nearly struck two subjects walking their dogs on the beach,\u201d officials said. \u201cMultiple witnesses came forward including three that stopped the vehicle, photographing it and the driver.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Most of the seagulls died immediately but efforts to save the few remaining injured birds failed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWDFW police have identified the driver thanks to these community members and officers are currently attempting to contact the man who is believed to be living out of State,\u201d authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>Seagulls are classified as protected in Washington and it is illegal for them to be hunted or fished.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities are currently looking for witnesses and have asked the public to get in touch with them if you have any information regarding the person of interest or vehicle by contacting the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Police at (877) 933-9847.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
