{"id":107920,"date":"2024-11-20T18:03:33","date_gmt":"2024-11-20T18:03:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/newstalklc\/bomb-cyclone-impacts-west-coast-2-dead-in-washington-state\/"},"modified":"2024-11-20T18:03:33","modified_gmt":"2024-11-20T18:03:33","slug":"bomb-cyclone-impacts-west-coast-2-dead-in-washington-state","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/newstalklc\/bomb-cyclone-impacts-west-coast-2-dead-in-washington-state\/","title":{"rendered":"Bomb cyclone impacts West Coast, 2 dead in Washington state"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-11-20\/N_BombCycloneAlerts_112024.jpg\" alt><figcaption>ABC News<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>(BELLEVUE, Wash.) &#8212; Two people have been killed by falling trees in Washington state as a powerful storm hits the Pacific Northwest.<\/p>\n<p>In Bellevue, a tree fell into a home, hitting and killing a woman while she was in the shower Tuesday night, Bellevue fire officials said.<\/p>\n<p>In Lynwood, a woman in her 50s was killed when a tree fell on a homeless encampment, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>More than 500,000 customers are without power in Washington state on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The storm exploded into a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/bomb-cyclone-enhance-powerful-atmospheric-river-targeting-west\/story?id=116002895\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bomb cyclone<\/a>\u00a0off the coast, near Vancouver Island, Canada, where winds gusted near 101 mph.<\/p>\n<p>A bomb cyclone means the pressure in the center of the storm drops 24 millibars within 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Wind gusts reached 50 to 84 mph from Northern California to Washington.<\/p>\n<p>As the storm sits and spins over the ocean this week, it will help to push a plume of Pacific moisture called an atmospheric river into Oregon and Northern California.<\/p>\n<p>Alerts are in effect through Friday for flooding, snow, avalanches and high winds.<\/p>\n<p>Some places could see more than 1 foot of rain this week.
