{"id":108046,"date":"2024-12-03T18:04:07","date_gmt":"2024-12-03T18:04:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/newstalklc\/secret-service-fires-shots-near-janet-yellens-home-no-one-hurt\/"},"modified":"2024-12-03T18:04:07","modified_gmt":"2024-12-03T18:04:07","slug":"secret-service-fires-shots-near-janet-yellens-home-no-one-hurt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/newstalklc\/secret-service-fires-shots-near-janet-yellens-home-no-one-hurt\/","title":{"rendered":"Secret Service fires shots near Janet Yellen&#8217;s home, no one hurt"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-12-03\/G_janetyellen_120324.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Ting Shen\/Bloomberg via Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>(WASHINGTON) A U.S. Secret Service agent fired shots near the home of Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen early Tuesday morning after a confrontation with occupants in a vehicle near her residence.<\/p>\n<p>At about\u00a01:30 a.m. on Tuesday, an agent working in the vicinity of Yellen&#8217;s home &#8220;observed a sedan with multiple occupants who were attempting to open car doors along the street,&#8221; the Secret Service said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As the sedan approached the agent, a confrontation occurred between the agent and the car\u2019s occupants,&#8221; the Secret Service said.<\/p>\n<p>The agent fired their weapon, but there is no indication the gunfire struck anyone, the Secret Service said.<\/p>\n<p>The car&#8217;s occupants fled the scene, and local police are now looking for them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There was no threat to any protectees during this incident and no protectees were harmed,&#8221; the Secret Service said.<\/p>\n<p>The incident is now being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2024, ABC Audio.
