{"id":108103,"date":"2024-12-07T00:05:17","date_gmt":"2024-12-07T00:05:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/newstalklc\/18-year-old-charged-with-killing-robbing-man-during-meeting-to-buy-playstation-5\/"},"modified":"2024-12-07T00:05:17","modified_gmt":"2024-12-07T00:05:17","slug":"18-year-old-charged-with-killing-robbing-man-during-meeting-to-buy-playstation-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lascrucestoday.com\/newstalklc\/18-year-old-charged-with-killing-robbing-man-during-meeting-to-buy-playstation-5\/","title":{"rendered":"18-year-old charged with killing, robbing man during meeting to buy PlayStation 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2024-12-06\/Getty_police_car_12062024.jpg\" alt><figcaption>Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\">(HOUSTON, Texas) &#8212; An 18-year-old was arrested and charged in Houston, Texas, after allegedly killing a man during an meetup to purchase a PlayStation 5.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Houston Police Department charged Zavion Joshua Pabon, 18, with capital murder and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the shooting death of 37-year-old Tyler McGinty, who was selling the video game console.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Patrol officers responded on Nov. 24 to a report of a shooting at a hotel room at 3850 Wilcrest Drive,\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">according to<\/span>\u00a0the HPD. The victim was later identified as McGinty.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">McGinty was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead on Nov. 28, the HPD said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Pabon was later\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">identified as a person of interest<\/span>\u00a0in the case and was arrested Thursday and charged with McGinty&#8217;s murder, according to the HPD.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">According to McGinty&#8217;s mother, Tammy Smith, her son was selling a PlayStation 5 online for $350 and went to the hotel to meet with a potential buyer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cHe got his head blown off for a PlayStation 5,\u201d Smith\u00a0<span class=\"s1\">told<\/span>\u00a0ABC affiliate station KTRK in Houston.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">McGinty had sold several items online, his mother said, adding that she never expected something like this to happen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cYou don\u2019t think like that,\u201d Smith said. \u201cNormal people don\u2019t do this. This isn\u2019t a normal person. This is a very, very bad individual.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Smith said she finds solace in knowing her son was an organ donor and that his heart continues to beat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIt just makes me happy, and it comforts me in my time of need as a mom going through grief,\u201d Smith said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Pabon is currently in jail and has been denied bond, according to the Harris County Clerk\u2019s Office.
