As many as 90 seniors from all six Las Cruces Public Schools high schools will be recognized for their academic achievements and college choice during the district’s Sixth Annual Academic Signing Day. The ceremonial signing will take place virtually on Wednesday, May 13 at 5:30 p.m. and will be made available to the public via Livestream.
Each of the district’s high schools were invited to nominate up to 15 seniors to be recognized. The event, which first started in 2015, was created to recognize the achievements and college selections of exemplary seniors much like athletes are recognized on their signing day.
The event will feature a welcome address from Dr. Wendi Miller-Tomlinson, Deputy Superintendent of Teaching, Learning and Research. Students are invited to wear a t-shirt, sweatshirt or cap that represents their college choice and they will be invited to speak during the event to announce their college and share their proudest high school accomplishment.
