The B-52s join lineup for Jimmy Carter 100th birthday celebration

The B-52s have been added to the lineup for the upcoming concert celebrating former President Jimmy Carter’s 100th birthday.

Put on by The Carter Center, Jimmy Carter 100: A Celebration in Song will be held at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre on Sept. 17. The B-52s were formed in Athens, Georgia, while Carter hails from Plains, Georgia.

Other new additions to the lineup include Duane Betts, Carlene Carter, Angélique Kidjo, BeBe Winans, India Arie and Lalah Hathaway.

They join previously announced performers like Rolling Stone touring keyboardist Chuck Leavell, Eric Church, Maren Morris, The War and Treaty, Drive-By Truckers, GROUPLOVE and The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chamber Chorus.

Proceeds from the event will benefit The Carter Center, which works to promote peace and improve health around the world.

Jimmy Carter will turn 100 on Oct. 1. He is the longest-living U.S. president.
