Residents and students are invited to a carnival at Doña Ana Community College (DACC) in honor of Banned Books Week.
The Banned Books Week Carnival will be held at the following campuses and centers:

Tuesday, October 7th at the Espina Campus St., 3400 S. Espina, inside Alex Sanchez Hall commons area from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Thursday, October 9th at the Sunland Park Center, 3365 McNutt Rd., inside the center’s commons area from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
These events will have carnival-style games and prizes, information on banned/challenged books and free snacks. The event is hosted by the DACC Library. The library will give information on the importance of intellectual freedom and stories that have faced challenges throughout history and why banned books matter.
Banned Books Week is an annual event launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in challenges to books in libraries, bookstores and schools. For more information on national events, go to Banned Books Week | October 5-11, 2025.
