LAS CRUCES — The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting registrations for its upcoming Youth Indoor Volleyball League, offering young athletes an opportunity to participate in organized team play this spring.
The program is open to all genders between the ages of 8 and 14, with three different age divisions available. The fee for new participants is $50 per individual, which includes a jersey, while returning players may register for $40 if they do not require a new jersey. Participants must provide proof of age or a Parks and Recreation Activity ID card, along with proof of grade, at the time of registration. League play is scheduled to begin the week of May 26, 2026, and space is limited, with registration handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Online registration will open at 9 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2026, and continue through April 25, 2026, or until online capacity is reached. Families can complete registration by visiting the City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation website. A current Parks and Recreation Activity ID card must be on file at the time of online registration. Any sibling team-placement request must be approved in advance by staff at the Meerscheidt Recreation Center, and families are encouraged to review team placement guidelines before registering.
In-person registration will begin at 9 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2026, and continue through 2 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2026, or until divisions reach capacity. Registration will take place at the Meerscheidt Recreation Center, located at 1600 East Hadley Avenue in Las Cruces. A current Parks and Recreation Activity ID card or birth certificate is required to complete in-person registration.
Parents or guardians who need to obtain a Parks and Recreation Activity ID card must appear in person with the participant at the Meerscheidt Recreation Center to sign permission forms, provide proof of age, and have the participant’s photograph taken. ID cards may be issued between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Officials note that ID cards cannot be issued on registration dates.
City officials also remind families that formation of teams is determined by athletics staff, and participants will be assigned to play within their designated age division. Requests for placement on specific teams or team changes are not permitted. However, siblings living in the same household may be placed on the same team if they qualify for the same age division and the request is properly documented during registration. Families are encouraged to call ahead to confirm that any sibling placement request has been recorded.
For additional information, residents may contact the Meerscheidt Recreation Center at 575-541-2563, TTY 711, or email athletics@lascruces.gov.]
