Doña Ana Community College (DACC) students have a new way of getting helpful information about the college. DACC has debuted a chatbot program to help students connect and provide answers to their questions.
The program is SMS or text message-based artificial intelligence (AI) that allows students to interact with DACC’s “Roady” the roadrunner. Roady will routinely send personalized texts to students to check in about their experience at the college, provide them resources and discuss challenges students share.
“Just like ’Siri’ or ‘Alexa,’ Roady can answer students’ questions across a broad range of campus topics specific to DACC,” says Ike Ledesma, vice president for Student Services. “We are bringing Roady to life as a chatbot, providing additional support to students and meeting them where they are by answering their questions and communicating important information in a more intentional and timely manner. “
DACC has partnered with EdSights to bring Roady to its campus. The chatbot is available 24/7 to students and officially kicked off in early December. For more information on the program, go to this link.
