A Doña Ana Community College (DACC) professor has been recently recognized with a prestigious award in teaching.
Assistant Professor in Business Joaquin Tadeo was given the Donald C. Roush Excellence in Teaching Award. This recognition is given to one DACC professor each year for their exemplary standard and dedication to teaching. Tadeo previously was given the award in 2010 with several nominations before that.
Tadeo has been with DACC for nearly 20 years. He is recognized for his innovative teaching methods, which include personalized Zoom meetings, recorded lectures and immersive learning discussions. His commitment extends to dual credit and early college high school students, attending their school functions and mentoring them to success.
Tadeo states that student success is his highest honor. He considers commencement ceremonies his greatest accolade, as it symbolizes his role in helping students achieve their goals. His courses are consistently in high demand, with strong student evaluations reflecting his impact on learning and engagement.
The Donald C. Roush Excellence in Teaching Award was established by New Mexico State University in February 1984, by the Academic Deans’ Council upon the retirement of Dr. Roush, executive vice president, in recognition of his unyielding dedication to the pursuit of teaching excellence. This award is based on information from students, department heads, deans and branch campus directors.
